Holiday. Written from the first-person point of view, A Close Look takes you inside the unveiling ceremony. There where the portrait artist, Alfredo Doornkamp, immortalizes the image and legacy of the Governor on canvas, the author immortalizes the perspectives and impressions at the unveiling of the Governor’s official portrait. As the title suggests the book offers a view into the Governor’s personality, background, vision and approach to life and the matters of governance and shares his brief reflections on Sint Maarten’s journey since 2010. The book includes perspectives and impressions on the making of the portrait, on establishing a new tradition, on the significance of the unveiling, and on the portrait itself. It is intended to help preserve our collective memory and inspire our people, and particularly our youth, to work for the advancement of our country. A Close Look, originally published in print in A5 format, consists of 68 pages and is also available as an eBook.
